Love, love, love! I appreciate that he narrated it in his own voice. Even with the slip ups it was imperfectly human and perfect! I was listening and following along while cooking dinner. I'll admit I cried at the end. I was shook and sad to learn his brother betrayed him too. That seems to be theme lately it seems. But the coming together at the end. And it was never about the music it was about the boy! 😭

Good job and bravo Andy! It was refreshing even for someone who likes the dark conspiracy bed time stories.

Wow that’s the best comment yet- betrayal everywhere you look- even in a fictional tale about Piper

I couldn't help thinking this was sort of the story of Emilie. You lost your flute but we were all really here for you, not you HIH flute. You are an amazing writer and have shown this to the world! Andy, you are a great writer too...apparently it runs in the family!

Yes! I was seeing the jealousy of Jessica and how all of us were here for Emily in the end that was who we love and adore.

What a sweet little read. I tend toward being nostalgic about life and lately I’m more wistful for simpler times growing up, reading Anne of Green Gables books lol. I think most of us, if we’re honest, don’t want to lose our sense of wonder in life. To hold sacred what is beautiful, true and good in the world. Andy conveyed that in his little story. Like Philippians 4:6-8:)

This was the most refreshing, simple and magical piece. I often wonder about this... about the sense of community that has both slowly and quickly started to change in our neighborhoods. The front porches that have disappeared from new builds to make us backyard dwellers. The lack of eating/sharing what's grown locally. And choosing faster/wider roads over safer and connected sidewalks. Thank you for being raw and sharing from the heart. It is SO powerful.

Emily, thank you for letting Andy share his story. It’s a beautiful story, Andy! It’s everything you say it is. Andy, you should self publish and do your own drawings, because you’re very good at that, too.

It reminds me of the stories I read growing up in the sixties-seventies. There’s a child in all of us and we all need to be reminded of the simpler times.

This made me think of the nineties-early 2000’s, when people came together and crashed malls, or train stations with their music. They sang and danced to bring hope and cheer to everyone. It worked, until life started getting too heavy, so it just stopped. Maybe, the Pipers are still out wandering in the woods, hoping someone will come rescue them.

Technology is great, but over time, we’ve learned we don’t actually have to be with someone in the room, we’d rather text them, on our own time. We’ve become reclusive. It’s bad, when you feel like you have to text someone to see if they can talk.

We need to find that spark of joy inside ourselves and spread it around to others. You never know whose life you will change.

Andy, I can’t wait to read more of your stories, whenever you get the inspiration!

I love this so much. I used to make up stories for my daughter (now 30, married with 2 babies ofher own) while I bathed her. One was about a bubble. I wish I would have written it down as it had numerous adventures and always made it home for bathtime. I made up songs for my kids and now sing them to my 2 and 5 year old grandsons. The art of srory telling needs to return. I adore Andy for being soft and kind despite trying to come across as a curmudgeon. We see through him.
